The Buffalo City Metropolitan Development Agency (BCMDA), in partnership with the Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC), is conducting a feasibility study to assess and develop the local film industry in Buffalo City Metro. This effort supports BCMDA’s broader mandate to drive socio-economic development by identifying and nurturing key economic sectors.
As part of the study, BCMDA and consultants from Andani Africa visited key creative institutions on July 4th, including the Legends Creative Hub and The Cortex (Film Hub). The Legends Creative Hub is a dynamic incubator offering advanced facilities for artists and filmmakers, while The Cortex focuses on innovation and entrepreneurship in both ICT and film.
These site visits highlighted the vibrant talent, infrastructure, and stakeholder commitment present in the region, offering promising insights into the potential growth of the local creative economy.
